On World AIDS Day 2016, federal Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould acknowledged that the “over-criminalization of HIV non-disclosure” contributes to stigma and undermines public health, and that the criminal justice system has not caught up to the existing science.
After much study, it is time for all levels of government to take action. The Community Consensus Statement prepared by the Canadian Coalition to Reform HIV Criminalization provides the ministers of justice and attorneys general with clear requests for change. You can help by sending an email to the federal, provincial and territorial ministers using the form below.
